Hi Tamara,
Sorry, but I don't have the text. It's from the book "Cinco horas con Mario" by Miguel Delibes and you can buy the book from Amazon.com.

Eleena,

Is there any way to get a script of final reading by the Andalucian woman at the end of the post? Many thanks for your efforts!

Holaa, sii

Great questions! I don't have the answer to your first question about the Arabic influence but it is very intriguing. I'll have to research this.

Regarding your second question, I believe the answer is yes. There's a stereotype associated with a strong Andaluz accent but I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say that there is a stigma attached to it. But when comics in Spain and TV shows want to generate laughs, they sometimes trot out an Andaluz accent or "character" from Andalucía.

Regarding your request for info about the extrameño accent, I'll keep that mind. I need to find a good audio example of a speaker from that area.

Thanks very much for your comment and suggestions! :)

I loved this podcast. There are a lot of accents in Spain for sure. I'd like to hear the extrameno accent next. I love Badajoz. I'd also like it if you could talk about what factors caused the accent to develop. Was it the arabic influence that caused the anadluz accent to change so much? Also, does the Andaluz accent have the same stigma attached to it like the American southern accent does?
