February Book Club: Un día de estos
It’s been awhile since I last made a book recommendation. This month I’m recommending an author, not a specific book, and that author is Gabriel García Márquez. Hopefully, you’ve already heard of him since he’s a Nobel-prize winning author. Perhaps you’ve read his obra maestra “Cien años de soledad.” But if you don’t know “Gabo” and are unfamiliar with his writing, I highly recommend his short stories.
One of my favorites is “Un día de estos,” which you can listen to and read here on this blog. It’s a story about a dentist, his patient and some very unpleasant history that binds them together. Find more García Márquez short stories in Doce cuentos peregrinos (Spanish Edition, which is available on Amazon.
Glossary of words is here.

Thank you for the recommendation, Eleena!
I’m not quite up to the level of Cien Años yet, but will give the short stories a try.
Thank you. The narrator had a beautiful, clear voice and slow cadence which enabled me to enjoy the story and familiarize myself with the pronunciation. Looking forward to listening again after I look up a few words!
Gabriel Garcia Marquez es fantástico. Me encanta el uso tan metículoso de las palabras que hace.
La voz de la narración es perfecta. Enhorabuena!
De nada, chicos. ¡Gracias por los comentarios!
To anyone who is interested, here is a glossary of words, with their English definitions, from the story:
