Message to subscribers of the “Voices en Español” blog and podcast

If you subscribe to the Voices en Español blog or podcast via iTunes or any other RSS service, I need you to resubscribe.

Feedburner, the service that I use to notify listeners of new episodes, was purchased by Google awhile back, but it wasn’t until a day ago that my Feedburner account was moved to Google and, in the process, almost all of my subscribers were left behind. Poof! Gone. Vanished into thin air.

It’s an unbelievably terrible situation and Google is not providing any answers as to whether or not these people can be recovered. So the only recourse I’m left with is to ask all of you to resubscribe to the blog and to the podcast. If you’ve never subscribed, now would be a great time to do so.

Benefits of subscribing

Subscribing is free and is the best way to receive notification of updates to the Voices en Español blog and podcast as soon as they go online. You’ll never have to remind yourself to check whether or not the blog or the podcast has been updated. All new blog entries and the latest podcast episodes will be sent to you automatically, for free, when you subscribe.

Choose any one of the following methods:

Subscribe to the podcast via iTunes. Visit the Voices en Español page in iTunes and click the SUBSCRIBE button.

If you prefer, subscribe to Voices en Español » Podcasts by Email. This will email you a notification whenever a new episode becomes available.

There isn’t much need to panic – all of your feeds are being redirected and it might take a day or two for the count to be refreshed. Google took this into account. If people use one feed or the other your reader count and how the feed operates will be the same in the long run.

I’m sure when I was reading about updating my feedburner to the feedburner2 option hosted directly at Google, they warned that my count might go down to zero temporarily. Didn’t you see that message?

    Hi Benny,
Thanks for the additional insight. I actually didn’t see that message you referenced and I did panic. :P My subscriber count went down 97% over night, so I almost had a heart attack when I saw the stats. When I saw other bloggers complaining of the same thing in the Google Help forum, I realized that this drop in stats was widespread. Today my feed counts between my two blogs are back to roughly 75% of where they were before the switch, although one of my feeds remains below 50% of where it was on Friday. Guess just have to wait for it to update.
