Hablando con mi portero

Matias, the superintendent of my apartment building, always has a smile and a positive attitude. He genuinely likes his job and helping people. When I initially asked him to do an interview, he said yes, but then wanted to back out when he found out that I would be recording his voice. He thought it was going to be a written interview. He was very nervous about being recorded, which I guess is only natural since a lot of people don’t like the sound of their own voice. Anyway, to put him at ease, I told him that we could talk about whatever he wanted to talk about. So in this short interview, he tells us a little about his beautiful hometown, Ávila, one of the best preserved medieval cities in Spain, and then talks about four places he loves in Madrid. They are: La Plaza Mayor, La Plaza de Oriente, Santiago Bernabeu (stadium of Real Madrid), and el Barrio de la Concepción.
The interview is brief but I think Matias did a good job and I don’t think his nervousness comes through in the audio. ¡Gracias, Matias!

I think that’s the first time I heard you speak in English. You have a nice voice.
Where do I click to hear him?

Thanks Katrina! Matias starts talking about 30 seconds into the recording, around 0:30 of the audio.

Hi Ines,
Thank you for your note and I’m glad you enjoyed this podcast. Actually, I never did a transcript of this interview. If more people request one, I would consider doing it. Are there any more takers? Let me know!

Buenas Eleena,

¡Felices fiestas!
Eleena
