November Book Club: El enigma de Paris

November’s book club selection, “El enigma de Paris,”  is a thrilling detective story by Pablo de Santis, an Argentine writer and comic-strip creator.

The book tiene muy buena pinta. The year is 1889. The setting is Paris during the World’s Fair. The characters are a group of master sleuths, known as the 12 Detectives, who meet for the first time in the City of Lights. But when Louis Darbon, one of the 12, falls to his death from the Eiffel Tower, a mystery unfolds that must be solved before more victims are claimed.

I expect to have a handful of copies of the book from Harper Collins, the publisher, to give away later this month. In the meantime, if you’d like to purchase the novel, you can find it in English or in Spanish on Amazon.com. If you’d like to read some sample chapters, in English or Spanish, below are the links. The widget that says “Cover not available” is the Spanish version.

Ok, clicked the link, had to go to the UK site (clicked through) and had to search again for the correct book. If everything works out you should make some change from me (what’s the commision? 4%?).

Thanks for the tip, I love stories like this!

Thanks, Ramses. Unfortunately I didn’t remember about Amazon UK. My affiliate link only works in the U.S. store. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me and I hope you enjoy the book once you get it! :)

P.S. Yes, the commission is around 4% in the U.S. store.

Based on previous entries, I haven’t seen many Book Club announcements. Is it something that just started? o Is it an open forum for suggestions? If so I would love to see what others are reading, and will make sure to drop a line of recomendations from time to time. Thanks

    Hi Crystal,
The “Book Club” is just a monthly recommendation from me about new books published in Spanish. I started it in September. I originally had something more structured in mind but the feedback I got from blog visitors was that they didn’t have time to read a book each month. The majority said they preferred to just hear about new books available in Spanish but they didn’t want to feel obligated to read a new book each month. That way they could check out the books they were interested in on their own time and at their own pace without having to worry about trying to keep up with other people.

If you’ve got any book suggestions, I’m open to hearing them. You can either post your reading suggestions here or email me privately via the blog’s Contact page. Depending on what they are, I would definitely consider featuring them in a future month.

    Thanks!
