Voices en Español book club: You, the readers, have spoken
Last month I asked you guys how’d you feel about joining a subscription-based book club. I got plenty of email responses. (Thanks to all who wrote!) While many of you liked the idea of receiving a book in the mail each month, the consensus was that few of you would actually have the time to read so many books over the course of a year. Point well taken. Perhaps the book club idea would be better suited for children’s books related to my other podcast, Cody’s Cuentos. In any case, I’ve taken your welcome feedback to heart.
So here’s what the current plan is: Each month I will tell you about a new book release in Spanish. If I can get copies from the publisher to give away, I will. A small donation will be requested to cover postage and handling but the suggested donation will be significantly less than the retail price of the book. Also, I will provide a link to purchase the book online, that way whoever is interested in buying the book can do so on their own. Stay tuned for the first book recommendation…

Yay!! I love this idea! I can’t wait. Sign me up.
I would suggest anything by Pablo Neruda for the poetry fans. His poetry is amazing. I’ve visited two of his three houses here in Chile, and he was truly a unique spirit with a love for the simplest and most beautiful things. He had a great sense of humor. :]
The only Spanish book I own is called “1963: El Complot”, a book about Fidel & JFK. I haven’t read it though, so I can’t give you any recommendations as far as that. It’s a historical novel anyway! It was $3 at this awesome bookstore in Seattle.
Yesterday I was in a bookstore in Utrecht, and they had quite some Spanish books (both fiction and non-fiction, all new titles), so I might check it out and maybe even be able to let them order the books for me recommended here :).
