Saying thanks

Gracias. It’s a little word that goes a long way. But there are times when you’d like to add a little more agradecimiento to the mix.

Here’s a list of phrases and expressions you can use when a simple “gracias” or “muchas/muchísimas gracias” doesn’t feel like enough.

Note: In some cases the English translations I’ve posted here are not literal word-for-word translations but rather an English equivalent to expressing the same sentiment as the Spanish statement.
[Gracias,] eres muy amable/eres muy generoso (You are very kind. You are very generous.)

Gracias de todo corazón (Thank you from the bottom of my heart.)

Gracias y me quedo corto (Thank you, words fail me.)

Te lo agradezco/Se lo agradezco (I appreciate it.)

No sé cómo agradecerte (agradecerle) lo que has (ha) hecho por mí
(I don’t know how to thank you for what you have done for me.)

Le/te estoy inmensamente agradecido (I’m eternally grateful.)

Que Dios te /le bendiga (God bless you.)

No sabes cuánto te debo (You don’t know how much I owe you.)

Espero que algún día podré corresponderte (corresponderle) [I hope I'll be able to return the favor one day.]

No viviré bastante para poder pagarte (pagarle) todo lo que has (ha) hecho por mí. (I’ll never be able to repay you for all that you’ve done for me.)

And when you’re writing an email or a letter where you’re asking for something or making a request in an online forum, a couple of standard ways of expressing thanks are Gracias de antemano or te lo agradezco de antemano. They both mean “Thanks in advance.”

Again a very nice and usefull list of words and sentences which are applicable every day!

I always read the articles with a lot of interest and learn a lot from them.

Many people always use ´gracias´ or ´muchas gracias´ in all kind of ways when another kind of saying thanks is more usefull. Especially for people who begin to start learning the language these sentences are very usefull and expand the knowledge of the Spanish vocabulary.

I am looking forward to the next usefull post!
