The Voices en Español podcasts are back and I’m pleased to kick off 2008 with this interview with Javier Barros del Villar from Mexico City.

By day he works on digital media for Televisa, one of Mexico’s largest media companies. In his free time he pursues his passion for independent, alternative art. He’s co-founder of Cine de Luna, which organizes night-time showings of movies in public spaces such as parks and plazas in Mexico City. He’s also a dedicated bilingual blogger, [**hmm, kind of like someone you already know ;) ] with a blog in English and another in Spanish.

In today’s podcast, Javier talks about Arte Callejero, his Spanish-language blog which he co-founded with his French-Mexican girlfriend Mitsy Ferrant. What started out as a hobby photographing images he saw on the streets of Mexico City, has now become the largest photographic archive of street art in Mexico.

In this podcast, Javier talks about the differences between street art and graffiti and also tells us about one work in particular by one of his digital cuates who goes by the clever name Aguafiestaz. It’s called me_miras.
