Voices en Español

Hispanics are the largest minority group in the United States. With the 2008 U.S. presidential election less than a year away and issues like immigration reform a concern of many, now seems like a great time to launch La Política, a new publication about latino voters.

Luis Clemens, a former bureau chief in Buenos Aires for CNN en Español, is the editor-in-chief. Arturo Villar is the publisher. Mr. Villar is also the publisher of Hispanic Market Weekly.

Mr. Clemens says that one of the primary challenges to launching a new publication in the current environment is the massive amount of information that is available online about the political candidates. Gone are the days where the public gets all its info about a presidental candidate from carefully orchestrated media events and newspaper articles. Today there exists a significant number of professional political bloggers who are opinionated, aggressive and comprehensive in their coverage.
