A female president (in Argentina)

Argentina recently elected Cristina Fernández de Kirchner president of Argentina. Although she is the wife of the outgoing president, Néstor Kirchner, Mrs. Kirchner is considered an accomplished woman and a political force in her own right.

The recent elections in Argentina were notable for the number of female candidates running for president (there were three), as well as the apathy of voters. On my Spanish blog, Analia Rossi, a friend of mine from Argentina, explains why. Analia also gives her opinion on what type of leader her country needs at this time.
